The harmful facts of plastic bottle

It can't be denied that the plastic-related products are much more convenient and durable compare to glass and ceramic products. It has been widely used in most of the industry, especially in drinking water, due to the low production cost on the plastic. However, researchers have found increasingly severe harmful effects of plastic bottle toward human health. Infants, new born, even fetuses are the most vulnerable to these side effects.

Stunning facts on plastic:

a.   There are 1500 water bottles end up as garbage every second
b.   The global bottled water industry has annual revenue of approximately US$50 billion.
c.   Huge amount of plastic waste is generated from bottled water, with over 80% going to the landfill.
d.   17 million barrels of oil was used to manufacture plastic containers yearly, which is enough to fuel more than a million cars for a year.
e.   Bottled water transported from Western Europe released an estimated 3800 tons of greenhouse gases, while in South Pacific producing about 2500 tons of global warming pollution
f.    The most commonly used plastic containers with recycle code of “1” takes 400-1000 years to be degraded while the plastic containers with recycle code of “3” pollute the soil and the ground water during its degradation period.

Harmful plastic side effects on infants:

In 2010, a report from the United States food and Drug Administration (FDA) has identified the possible hazards of the Bisphenol A (BPA) to fetuses, infants and young children. Later the BPA has been banned and removed from the usage in baby bottles. It is believed that the BPA could lead to children with premature puberty, learning deficits, hyperactivity and harms to prostate gland.
Claytan has developed its ceramic SunRay Bottles since 2009. It is a stoneware ceramic bottle, fired to 1150’c with stainless steels cap.
